Additionally, Your parents/guardians will be required to fill out a financial assessment application form, which will need to be completed for you to submit your application before the deadline.
You need to fill in all sections of the application and financial assessment form, otherwise your application will not be considered. Simply registering an account does not suffice. Please plan your time well to fill in all pieces of the application well before the deadline, as there will be no extensions. To avoid any issues, submit your applications 2-3 days before the deadline.
Q: Are students selected on the basis of merit or financial need?
A: Students are shortlisted and selected on the basis of merit and promise alone! The financial assessment application is only used when a decision is being made to select the applicant to attend a UWC. In other words, the scholarships – if and when offered – are merit scholarships.
Q: How is financial need assessed?
During the application process, the student will be asked to enter their parent/guardian’s email, who will receive a separate link to fill out a section of your application with information about your family’s finances, like taxation and bank documents. In the application, you will be asked to enter an email for “Recommender”. This is actually for your financial aid section.
Please read the guidance in the application portal with care as you cannot submit your application if they have not filled out their portion of the application.
To avoid any issues, please have your parents/guardian start the financial aid section as soon as you start the application, and complete it at least a week before application submission.
Q: Will recommendations be required?
A: Teachers’ recommendations are required only if you are shortlisted for the interview. More instructions will be provided to the shortlisted applicants when the time comes. However, please do not confuse this with the recommendation step in the application, which is used for the Financial Aid information as mentioned above.
